US Airways Baggage Policy For 2010

 

Checked bags

 

You can pay for your 1st and 2nd checked bags and save when you check in online – there's a service fee for checked bags at the airport. Check in online beginning 24 hours and up to 60 minutes before your departure. You can check your bags at the airport starting 4 hours before your flight. All bag fees are per person and each way.

Exempt from 1st and 2nd checked bag fee

Overweight/oversize fees still apply.

  • All Dividend Miles Preferred members
  • Star Alliance Silver and Gold status members
  • Confirmed First Class and Envoy passengers
  • Passengers traveling to/from the Middle East or South America
  • Unaccompanied minors (with US Airways unaccompanied minor paid assistance)
  • Active U.S. military personnel with ID (1st through 3rd bag up to 100 lbs/45 kg each free of charge)

Oversize/overweight bags

Please pay overweight and oversize bag charges at the airport. On top of our checked bag fees, we charge:

Traveling with infants

If you're paying 10% of the adult fare for an infant to fly on an international flight, you are allowed:

Carry-on baggage

You're allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item. Personal items include a purse, briefcase or laptop bag.

Baggage liability

US Airways' liability for loss, delay or damage to checked baggage is limited to $3,300 per ticketed passenger for travel entirely within the U.S.

When US Airways has exercised the ordinary standard of care, it shall not be liable for damage to or damage caused by fragile articles, liquids, or perishables, nor for the loss of, damage to, or delay in:

  • Antiques/heirlooms/collectibles
  • Blueprints
  • Business samples, equipment, documents & irreplaceable items
  • Currency
  • Equipment
  • Keys
  • Natural fur products
  • Optics
  • Precious metals and stones
  • Sound reproduction equipment
  • Artwork
  • Books, manuscripts, publications
  • Computer hardware, software, etc.
  • Electronics
  • Jewelry
  • Lifesaving medication
  • Negotiable papers, securities, documents
  • Photographic, cinematographic audio/video equipment
  • Silverware
  • Spirits

International baggage liability policy

For international travel (including the domestic portions of international flights) to which the Montreal Convention applies, US Airways' liability for loss, delays, or damage to baggage is limited to approximately $1,807 per passenger for checked and unchecked baggage.

Local airport/government regulations state that any baggage over 70 pounds is not accepted for travel from: MAN, LGW, GLA, LIS, MXP, ARN, BRU, LHR, SNN, DUB.
