Batavia, IL – When Tour Edge introduced its new Exotics EX9 Long fairway wood at the 2016 PGA Show in Orlando they did so with a lot of fanfare. Listed as the final product in the EX9 family, The Long 3 is not your “A” typical fairway wood. In fact, Tour Edge describes it as a “quasi” hybrid driver/fairway wood.
Sporting a deeper face – think driver here – The Exp Long 3 delivers a greater spring-like effect and with a 185cc clubhead even the higher handicapped player will feel a sense of confidence with this club in their hands.
The engineers at Tour Edge designed the Exp Long 3 with a 15-3‐3‐3 beta titanium cup face and used combo‐brazing to combine it with the hyper‐steel body for maximum ball speed from anywhere on the face. The cu face also embodies a redesigned Variable Face Thickness technology producing better results from more contact points on the face of the club.
“It was imperative that the Long 3 fairway wood provide a different performance than the X9 and the Tour woods,” said David Glod, the company's president and founder. “We were able to accomplish that by combining the slightly larger clubhead, deeper face, and a super responsive beta titanium cup face with a longer shaft to give golfers fairway wood control with driver‐like distance.”
The Exotics SlipStream sole, which has been redesigned for the EX9 series, dramatically reduces the amount of turf interaction. The ‘waves’ are now shorter from front to back resulting in a full--‐speed explosive impact. In addition to the waves, the Power Grid has been reengineered deeper and much more narrow to remove weight close to the face and reposition it in the rear portion of the sole for ideal CG location.
Available in 13 and 15 degree heads, the EX9 Long 3 fairway wods have an adjustable hosel system. This allows players to change launch conditions using eight settings and adding or subtracting one degree of loft. This helps you dial‐in the setting that fits your swing and achieves your desired ball flight.
The EX9 Long includes a 9-gram center changeable weight insert to produce a powerful, penetrating ball flight. The weight screw is adjustable and additional weights can be purchased as a kit or individually. The kit includes 6-gram, 11-gram and 14-gram weights to increase or decrease the swing weight.
The Exoctics LOng 3 fairway woods come standard with the Aldila Rogue Silver 60 and 70, Black 60 and the Mitsubishi Diamana S+, M+ and D+ shafts. The grip is a Lamkin Exoctics UTx cord grip.
Suggested retail price is $299.99.
