HONMA Golf Co. Ltd., Sakata, JAPAN- Two new wedge lines from HONMA! The W102 and W201 are the replacement for the very successful W101 wedge line. The W102 targets the better player for optimal scoring in the short game. The W201 offers superior features of the W102, but makes the short game much easier.

Both models feature the material 420 mild steel compared to 8620 mild steel of the older W101. This yields a soft feel on impact and thus the face hugs the ball, producing terrific spin. Another feature is optimal plating and combination coating a first for HONMA! These wedges feature two zones, spin zone and slide zone. Spin Zone: To facilitate maximum spin, the face is finished in black nickel with a high friction coefficient. In addition, the wedges feature CNC processing for even greater precision for a perfectly flat surface. By the faces being perfectly flat, allows for uniform ball compression on the club face for more consistent ball flight. Slide Zone: The sole, which is exposed directly to earth and turf, is finished in nickel chrome, which has a low friction coefficient to make it more resistant to wear. The sole is also designed to facilitate the follow through and spin. Both models feature trapezoid grooves. Subjected to the maximum processing allowed under the rules, the result is the best possible spin. HONMA uses state-of-the-art equipment to refine the surfaces and ensure that no rules are broken.

The W102 features a more formidable lead edge and looks like it can work out of any lie giving you the added confidence you want. A cavity carved in the center back makes this design super-streamlined. The shaved weight is optimally shifted to create a slightly larger head a trend in golf today. Though the W-102 features a larger head, it is in fact designed for intermediate and advanced players. This design gives the impression that it will envelop the ball, a real confidence builder. It makes setting up your line of orientation easy.

So if BERES 6 and 7 series users feel comfortable with our wedge series, the head on the W-201 has been crafted slightly larger, 4% larger than the W102, as in the 6 and 7 series irons. We have also added a gooseneck design that hugs the ball, gives the golfer more confidence at address and reduces the instance of missed shots. The W201 features a wider surface area for optimal forgiveness.
