Dataw Island Club - Cotton Dike Course

by Alan Hunter

Dataw Island Club Cotton Dike Course

As one of South Carolina’s premier golf communities, Dataw Island is home to two 18-hole golf courses: Tom Fazio’s Cotton Dike course and Arthur Hills’ Morgan River course. Both recently-renovated, and both designed to ensure a pleasurable round for golfers of all abilities. Golfers enjoy beautiful natural surroundings as they wind their way through the island and amongst tidal marshland, live oaks dating back hundreds of years and Civil War era ruins – starting and ending at the Southern-style Clubhouse.

For the Cotton Dike course, Tom Fazio's design choices were influenced by a series of dikes that were created to generate more planting ground for 18th century plantation cotton fields. Jenkins Creek flows by nearly half of the 18 holes, nestled between emerald fields and fairways.
