Carlsbad, CA - U.S. Route 101, or U.S. Highway 101 is a north–south United States Numbered Highway that runs through the states of California, Oregon, and Washington, on the West Coast of the United States. It is also known as El Camino Real (The Royal Road) where its route along the southern and central California coast approximates the old trail which linked the Spanish missions, pueblos, and presidios.
Throughout its long and enduring history, California has long been known as a hot bed for creativity, especially down in SoCal. Ride the 101 down to Carlsbad and you'll find the Mecca for golf club designers, including Odyssey Golf.
To pay homage to the putter manufacturer's hometown, Odyssey has developed a line of putters to one of California's most recognizable landmarks; El Camino Real or Highway 101.
Ascetically these putters say Southern California, while the technology behind them continues to put forth the company's commitment to raising the bar of innovation.
One of the keys behind the Highway 101 putters is Odyssey's use of insert technology. Its called the Sound Chamber. Behind the 17-4 stainless steel insert in the company's patented Metal-X pattern is a unique chamber, specifically designed to allow resonation, providing a crisp sound and feel at impact.
The Highway 101 series comes in three different head shapes, has a precision milled 1020 carbon steel body and as mentioned above features a 17-4 SS insert with the sound chamber. It comes in a satin chrome finish and has a head weight of 350g. On the Stepless steel shaft is a Cabretta leather Red Midsize Master Grip.
The right-handed version's specs are pretty standard at 3 degrees of loft, a lie of 70 degrees and length at 35 inches.
Expect to see Odyssey's Highway 101 at your favorite retailer at the end of this month with price point of just under $400.00.
