CIG Honors Lopez And Sheehan

July 24, 2014

Capital Insurance Group is again looking forward to its role as a presenting sponsor of "The Langley, A Tribute To Legends," which this year for the first time is honoring two women golf greats, Nancy Lopez and Patty Sheehan, on Aug. 10-11 at Pebble Beach.

Now in its seventh year, "The Langley" is a premier, two-day, fundraising event that gives guests a memorable experience and opportunity to get up close with golf's legends. Previous legends honored at The Langley include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ken Venturi, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller, and Billy Casper.

On Sunday, Aug. 10, Lopez and Sheehan - each a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame - will be honored at a dinner and special program with the legends at The Inn at Spanish Bay. On Monday, Aug. 11, the pro-am tournament is to be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links, followed by an awards reception.

In conjunction with the Northern California PGA Foundation, CIG hosts the event to provide guests and golfers with a memorable opportunity to support charity organizations through the game of golf. Launched in 2008, the prestigious event is named after the late Jim Langley, a NCPGA Golf Professional of the Year and head professional for 34 years at the world-famous Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach. Langley always managed to give back to his community and the game, spending countless hours throughout his career volunteering his time for various events, particularly junior golfers.

The featured beneficiaries of "The Langley" this year include Special Olympics Northern California, AIM for the Handicapped, The Patty Sheehan Foundation, Saving Strokes, the Langley Scholarship Fund, Meals on Wheels of Monterey and the Northern California PGA Foundation.

Support for The Langley is part of the CIG Golf Program through which CIG has become a leader in the support of community golf programs. CIG also is the Title Sponsor for the Junior Tour of Northern California JTNC), one of the best regional tours in the country, where young athletes gain tournament experience and exemplify the CIG's healthy life initiative that goes with walking 18 holes each tournament day.
