Carlsbad, CA - If you have ever owned, or still have a set of Apex irons in the garage then you know you are a proud owner of one of the most iconic names in golf equipment. Now Callaway has come out with a new version that lives up to the lofty standard to bear the name of Apex Black Irons.
At first sight they are down right cool looking!
But behind that tough looking facade is a club that promises you more distance with the company's 360 Face Cup. Add in a progressive offset, sole widths, CG height and notch weighting and you've got irons that provide scoring performance from your 3 to 7 irons.
Callaway says the Apex Blacks are created from a multi-piece construction that delivers an excellent combination of distance, feel and control. They then applied an extremely precise quadruple net forging and mild carbon steel to give the club a great soft feel.
Callaway also worked with its shaft partners to create two exciting stock offerings to match the look of the head. With steel it offers a True Temper XP 95 Stepless Shaft with a satin black finish and with graphite you'll find a new “blacked out” UST Recoil shaft. Want to take a step higher, there is also premium after market shaft options available at no upcharge.
Depending on what you want to carry in your bag you can customize the makeup of your set at no upcharge in the following configuration: 4-PW, 5-PW, 4-AW, 5-AW
On top of the shaft is the standard use of custom “blacked out” Lamkin UTX grips.
Keep in mind, the Apex Blacks are offered as a custom option only and their price point of $1,300.00 to $1,500.00 per set may be a little too steep for the average weekend warrior, but if having the best Face Cup and Apex technologies with a sleek all black look, along with premium shafts and custom options fits your game to a tee, then go for it. Heck, there are days when I still rummage around my garage in search of my older set of Apex irons.
