Bayonet and Black Horse, Inns by the Sea Extend Golf Packages Through
2010
'Best 36-Holes' on Monterey Bay, Carmel's Premier Collection of
Boutique Hotels Offer a Wide Variety of Stay-and-Play Options
(SEASIDE, Calif.) - Bayonet and Black Horse Golf
Club today
announces its "stay and play" packages with Inns by the Sea, the
area's premier collection of boutique hotel properties, will be offered
throughout the reminder of 2009 and in 2010.
Bayonet and Black Horse are two of the most storied golf courses
on the Monterey Peninsula -- opening in 1954 and 1967, respectively.
The 18-hole, sister layouts have hosted golf's greats including Arnold
Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, several U.S. Presidents and
many foreign dignitaries. Both courses underwent a $13 million
renovation by the Bates Golf Design Group and re-opened in
December,
2008.
Inns by the Sea features five cottage-style hotels ranging from 13 to
35 rooms, all located in picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea, one of the most
sought-after shopping districts on the Peninsula. The packages, ranging
from $249 to $389 per night, per golfer, offer a myriad of
stay-and-play options at a variety of price points. Included (in
addition to accommodations) is one round of golf, daily, on Bayonet or
Black Horse with cart and range balls. Continental breakfast is
delivered to the room each morning.
Additional golfers can be added for $95 per day, Monday through Friday,
and $120 on Saturdays and Sundays. Rates are subject to availability
and some restrictions and blackouts. For pricing and booking, visit
www.innsbythesea.com or call 800.433.4732 and ask for the Bayonet
and Black Horse package.
"We are excited to extend our relationship with Inns by the Sea and to
provide traveling golfers with an unique combination of championship
golf and boutique accommodations," says Dick Fitzgerald, director for
Seaside Resort Development. "The package is ideal for golfers and golf
fans considering a trip to the Monterey Peninsula for the 2010 AT&T
Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, or to enjoy our year-round golf weather."
Bayonet and Black Horse's renovated features include: dramatic
alterations to corridors and hole routings to reveal breathtaking ocean
vistas; improved playing options off the tee and around greens;
replacing invasive kikuyu and poa annua grasses on the tees, fairways
and greens with the preferred Jacklin T1 Bentgrass, a rarity for the
region that will ensure the best lies and smoothest putting surfaces on
the Peninsula. Bayonet is still considered - and rated - one of the
most challenging courses in the state, ranking No. 35 in Golf Digest's
list of the "50 Toughest Golf Courses in the United States.
Recently introduced at Bayonet and Black Horse is The Enclave at
Cypress Grove. The first phase of a 400-acre planned, residential golf
resort community, The Enclave at Cypress Grove offers homebuyers 29
custom home sites, ranging in size from 12,000 to 20,000 square-feet
and featuring ocean or golf course views. The gated, luxury resort
community provides residents convenient access to an abundance of
dining, shopping and area attractions. It is minutes away from Monterey
Bay, Cannery Row, The Monterey Bay Aquarium, numerous outdoor sports,
vineyards and tasting rooms.
