Antigua Begins 20th Year as Sponsor for
the Antigua Junior Tour
PEORIA, ARIZ. —The
Antigua Group, Inc.—one of the nation’s leading designers and marketers of
genuine golf and sports apparel under its Antigua brand is beginning its
20th year as sponsor for the “The Antigua Junior Tour”. The Antigua Junior
Tour consists of 12 districts, each hosting five to six golf tournaments on
Monday's during the summer months. The districts are spread
throughout metro Phoenix including one in Las Vegas, NV and another in
Yuma, AZ. These events are structured to keep kids close to home,
offering low cost junior golf tournaments, and the chance to compete among
other local junior golfers in their age group. “20 years ago we were asked
by the Southwest Section PGA if we would be interested in sponsoring a tour
designed to stimulate junior golf activity in Arizona”, said Ron McPherson,
president and CEO of the Antigua Group. “The Antigua Junior Tour was born
and each year this tour at a variety of Arizona courses introduces golf to
boys and girls. The tour is run by the Southwest Section PGA and has
influenced hundreds of kids every year.”
“We are so very fortunate to have a sponsor so committed to junior golf”,
said Frank Calvin, Director of Junior Golf for the Southwest Section PGA.
“We can't thank Ron and his team enough for all they have done over the
past 20 years as they have been more than just a title sponsor, but a
leader in helping develop junior golf throughout the Southwest Section
PGA”.
