STX Envision TR Putter Receives 2009 "Players Choice" Award
BALTIMORE, MD. - July 24, 2009 - STX,
world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for
its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the
newly launched Envision TR Putter received a "Players Choice" award
from Golfing Magazine.
The "Players Choice" award is presented by
Golfing Magazine, a national publication which reaches the active
golfer in major regional markets. As the name indicates, the
"Players Choice" awards are determined by the magazine's
reader/play testers not its staff. The idea is to have average or
typical golfers test the equipment and for their evaluations to be
published. PGA Professionals manage and assist in the subjective
exercise.
The STX Envision TR Putter was tested against
many mallet putters. The uniquely shaped putter received remarkable
comments from the testers on how the geometric shaped head helped
with alignment, stroke and is attractive at address. The Golfing
Magazine reader/play testers chose the STX Envision TR Putter for
"Best Appearance."
"STX putters are designed to combine art and
technology. The Envision TR embodies the company's mission and
we're thrilled that these play/testers chose it," said STX Director
of Golf Steve Henneman.
Earlier in the golf season, the Envision TR
Putter shipped into retail and company is pleased with its consumer
sell through. Consistent with the "Best Appearance" award, buyers
like the contemporary mallet. Retailers have observed that the when
the Envision TR is lined up against other mallets, they try it
first.
The Envision TR Putter with its angular
appearance is attractive to the eye but it is not only designed for
aesthetics, it assists with alignment and ensures a proper address.
Chief Club Designer Bob Engman designed the head geometrically so
it makes it easy for golfers to see the putter when it is not
properly aligned throughout the stroke. Engman also distributed
more weight further out toward the hell and toe for a higher moment
of inertia.
STX, known for their insert faces, equipped
the new Envision TR Putter for a variety of responses. It is
available in the black and red insert options. The black insert is
the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and
resilience rate plus increased dwell time. Those characteristics
are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep
your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert
offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for true control.
The Envision TR Putter is available in
lengths of 34, and 35 inch. The manufacturers suggested retail is
$199.00.
New for STX:
Another new introduction to the 2009 STX line
is a reinvention of the popular ProFit™ series of putters. STX
introduced the ProFit™ series of interchangeable insert putters in
the late 90's and now they will look to improve on that offering
with several highly engineered putters that will feature
interchangeable inserts and weights. The new ProFit™ putters are on
track for a late summer release and will be featured at the 2009
Fall PGA Show in Las Vegas.
The STX ProFit™ system provides quick
adjustments for feel and weighting through interchangeable faces
and weights. This ability to control the putter head and speed
according to personal preferences and course conditions is a huge
advantage.
About STX:
STX is acknowledged as being the golf
industry's foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a
quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft
face elastomer insert, creating the "softest legal face in golf."
In the mid-90s the company's research and development team
introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and
removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have
helped create the standards for putter design today.
Behind the company's uniquely styled putter
heads is Robert "Bob" Engman, STX Putters' Chief Club Designer. A
world-renowned sculptor with works in the Hirshhorn Museum, the
Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, Bob is also a
three-time senior champion at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.
