Daphne's Headcovers and LPGA player Leta Lindley support Prader-Willi
Charity
Phoenix, Arizona - Daphne's Headcovers, the
original headcover company, pledged to continue their support of the
Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA) through a donation of a portion
of sales proceeds of their popular Monkey Made of Sockies golf
headcover. The delightful headcover is carried by LPGA touring
professional, Leta Lindley who will host a golf tournament to support
the same charity.
Daphne's wildly successful new headcover, Monkey Made of Sockies, which
is also carried by Jennifer Rosales and Jill McGill, is the common
thread that binds Daphne's Headcovers, Lindley, Shannon Grissom, the
creator of the Monkey Made of Sockies character, and PWSA (USA)
together. A portion of sales proceeds through each of the group's
websites go to provide desperately needed funds to fight PWS. PWSA
funds research provides education, and offers help to enhance the
quality of life for those affected by Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS).
PWS is a complex birth defect typically causing low muscle tone, short
stature, incomplete sexual development, and a chronic feeling of
hunger. Coupled with a metabolism that utilizes drastically fewer
calories than normal, this can lead to excessive eating and
life-threatening obesity, among many medical and developmental issues.
"We're thrilled to do our part to help enhance the lives of young
children affected by PWS," explained Spicer. "It's gratifying to be
involved with people who give from the heart like Leta Lindley and
Shannon Grissom."
Lindley will host the second Leta Lindley Prader-Willi Classic golf
tournament that will feature a number of her friends from the LPGA
Tour. It will be held on December 7th at the PGA National Resort and
Spa in Palm Beach Gardens Florida. "As the mother of two children, I
couldn't help but feel a connection to children in need," Lindley
revealed. "I have always wanted to use my golf talents to make a
difference and I never imagined that opportunity would present itself
in this way."
Craig Polhemus, executive director of PWSA (USA), said "Each purchase
of this adorable Monkey Made of Sockies golf club head cover will help
support the vital work Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA) does for
thousands affected by Prader-Willi syndrome. We are pleased to have
this avenue to raise awareness about and funds for PWS and grateful to
Daphne's Headcovers for caring about our loved ones with the syndrome."
