Cog Hill's Dubsdread Named No. 1 "Best Courses You Can Play"
In Illinois; Pine Meadow Ranked No. 6
LEMONT, Ill. - Cog Hill Golf and Country Club's
Dubsdread, a Jemsek-owned golf facility and home course of the PGA
Tour's BMW Championship, is No 1 on Golfweek's 2009 list of "Best
Courses You Can Play" in Illinois. Pine Meadow Golf Club, also a Jemsek
golf facility and located in Mundelein, was ranked sixth on the
state-by-state "Best Courses You Can Play" list.
"It is an honor to have two of our facilities
named to this prominent list of the best public golf courses in the
state," said Frank Jemsek , CEO, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. "For
over 50 years, we have provided our valued customers with one of the
best daily-fee golf experiences in the country. Our challenging layouts,
excellent course conditions and picturesque hole settings have been
paramount to our success."
After a $5 million renovation by renowned golf
course architect Rees Jones, Dubsdread will reopen in May. The original
routing of the award-winning Dubsdread remains intact. The comprehensive
renovation has upgraded the course's features and restored the strategy,
design integrity and overall character inherent in the work of original
architects Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. Average golfers will continue to
enjoy the beauty and playability of this traditional style golf course
while the best players in the world will encounter a challenging, but
fair, test.
Pine Meadow Golf Club was built in 1985 by Joe Lee
and Rocky Roquemore and was voted in 1986 as "Best New Course" by Golf
Digest.
Golfweek's state-by-state rankings appeared in the
magazine's March 14, 2009 issue. The rankings are based on Golfweek's
panel of raters that evaluates courses using the following criteria:
overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens,
variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, and
landscape management.
